Breast Cancer and Chemotherapy

From what I have heard, most doctors suggest chemotherapy to help fight cancer. Some people just don't like the idea of chemo because of all the side effects and things and its not 100% full proff that it will work. On the other hand, its better to try then to not because they can't hurt. Do you know that more than half of all the people diagnosed with cancer receive chemotherapy. For millions of people the chemotherapy helps treat them so that they can go on enjoying full and productive lives.

Chemotherapy works by destroying the cells that make up the cancer but, also unfortunately it destroys the healthy cells as well. There are a variety of drugs that are used for the chemotherapy. Some of the cancer cells grow very fast while others are slow to grow.

Some of the side effects that you might have to deal with may not be half as bad as going on and living without the chemo. Some of the side effects include nausea, vomiting, hair loss and fatique also with a low white, red and platelet cell counts.

If you have cancer and are given the choice of the chemotherapy there are a lot of ups and downs to it. If you live in a big city then more then likely there will be a place close to home to have the chemo done, but if you live off away from the bigger cities then your looking at traveling and time away from family and friends.

And there are plenty of side effects for the chemo as well. So take a little time to weigh your options and decide if the chemo is a good choice for you and your family. Whatever you decide, let your family and friends be there with you and help you through it.
